Steeped in New Zealand’s rich cultural heritage, the far north of New Zealand boasts world class fishing, golf courses, beaches and native forests. As a popular tourist destination, the region is also a relaxed haven for a lifestyle only dreamed about by many.
This rural hospital has strong ties with its tight knit community and you’ll soon find yourself immersed in the culture and the people; you’ll quickly become part of a small, competent and collaborative team and feel really engaged in the clinical experience.
We are seeking a Medical Officer who will work in their Emergency Department and the In-patient Care Ward, where the range of medical care is complex and interesting. This is a 28 bed rural hospital with a busy Accident and Medical Department, Outpatient Clinics, Operating Theatres, combined Medical, Surgical and Paediatric Ward and many community based services.
The hospital provides care for a scattered population of 25,000 as well as the huge influx of tourists in the summer period.
A generous salary package and relocation allowance is offered and there is substantial support for Continuing Medical Education.
This position is open to non-specialist level doctors. We’d like to hear from applicants with both general medicine experience and three years or more working in an emergency medicine department in New Zealand or a comparable health system.
